Description

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and its state and federal partners manage over 250 state wildlife management areas, or WMAs, throughout the state by developing and restoring habitat for both native and migratory species to have a safe place to breed, rest and feed. Nebraska’s WMAs are open to the public year-round for hunting, trapping and fishing, as well as for many other activities, such as hiking, bird watching, nature study, horseback riding, stargazing and primitive camping.

Only basic public use facilities such as parking lots and boats ramps are provided. Portions of these areas may be designated as refuge and restrictions are placed on certain uses that may interfere with management goals and objectives. Therefore, WMAs do not have public restrooms or trash receptacles.
