Palmyra is a village platted in 1870 whose name commemorates the ancient Middle Eastern city of Palmyra. Located roughly ten minutes southeast of Lincoln along Nebraska Highway 2, Palmyra retains deep farming traditions and hosts an annual Old Settlers Picnic each June featuring a parade and family activities. The Palmyra Pioneer Cemetery is individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
