Colton is an unincorporated community in Cheyenne County, in the Nebraska panhandle. It lies between Sidney, a few miles to the west, and Lodgepole, a few miles further to the east. Colton has never been included in a federal census count, so there is no official population figure for the place.
History
A post office opened at Colton in 1887 and was discontinued in 1901. The name comes from Francis Colton, a ticket agent for the Union Pacific Railroad.
