Hire is the site of a former ranch post office in southwestern Cherry County, about 10 miles north-northeast of Whitman and 21 miles from both Mullen and Hyannis. Nothing of it is known to remain.
History
The Hire post office ran from 1911 to 1943. It was named for pioneer John C. Hire, in whose home the office was first kept.
