Conterra is the site of a former ranch post office in central Cherry County, about 4 miles west of US 83, 11 miles north of Brownlee and 30 miles south of Valentine. Nothing of it is known to remain, and the origin of the name has not been found.

The Conterra post office ran from 1913 to 1934, during the years when Kinkaid homesteaders filled much of the Sandhills.
